DAILY ENTRIES
6/20/11 Couple more from the trip. Bills, bikes, bears, and rain.
6/8 Took the annual little road trip on graypan. went well. good time had by all. stopped at Bill's Custom Cycle and his Museum in Bloomsburg, PA. Who else has NOS parts for VL and UL motors in stock? Answer: probably no one.
A little pic I call "Heaven"
A little pic I call "Love?" I guess 7 days on the road for these two guys is at least 1 too many.
5/23/11 Almost ready for the annual trip. Can't wait. Road King, before there were Road Kings. Also had a slight change in project plans the the unexpected arrival of this '46U. Had to neatly pack up the Model A for a little while.

2/7/11 Jig in progress. Due to lack of time I purchased the Northcoast Tool NCT5412 Frame Jig, made here in the USA. It's made by FilmTech and resold by a number of places, including cornwell..... It's a complete piece of shit, so don't even waste your time or money. And the company is so half-assed that you it's painful to deal with: took me over a month to get it delivered, then it took over a month to get it returned, only after I cancelled payment through my Credit Card company. So, I bought some premade parts and the rest in raw materials, and here I go. FYI, the Bitterend Choppers stuff is pretty nice, but needed a little massaging, plus their 4-speed setup isn't drilled for the 36-57 holes, nor is the plate clearanced quite enough for the stock mechanical brake forging. I still have lots of machining and drilling and tapping to do, but it's at least mocked up.

2/6/11 Not really doing anything here b/c any update (when I have time) is list under a given project. Since this doesn't really fall into any of those categories............... I'm working on fixing a panhead wishbone frame. Hours of cleaning and grinding all the hippy shit off this frame. Once the jig is done I'll get it all straight and button up this neck and fix the seatpost. Tubes are uncut and the neck never got cut all the way through (other side is much much better than this side), so it should be cool with the neck raked but stock looking.
12/2/10 Not a machinist, but I play one on TV. Primo insert in a BDL pulley.
9/19/10 So long good friend. Tomorrow I deliver you to your new rider. When I built you, little did I know that I'd end up building and separating fraternal twins................ Deal fell though at the last minute. Things could be worse than having these 2 bikes in the garage.
2/11/10- It's been El Camino all day, every day. I really hate this car at this point. Pure loathing. Every step forward is a step back, but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
1/18/10- got the cases apart on the '63. Now to deal with the flywheels.
1/4/10- 2 bikes off to paint and almost powder (still have to sep a set of spoked wheels. Now I have a car to finish and transmission work to do).
12/27/09- OUCH. Decided to go for a ride today since the weather broke. And forgot to retard the magneto when I hit the key. My expensive 65-69 inner primary............. No one to blame but myself though
12/20/09-Finally getting some work done again after moving house and garage (almost done). Straightened a bent OEM 58-72 swingarm with some heat and muscle. Fired up the new TIG using new wiring in the new garage and did the the pipes and bars.
12/13/09- Crash course in electrical. Wiring two 220v circuits in garage for TIG and Air compressor. This is the panel originally: 80 amp subpanel fed by 6ga. Ran 10-3 and 6-3 for the TIG and compressor, respectively, then redid the panel.
8/28/09- Just looking through some old photos and these were from my pre getting married trip down the mid-atlantic coast and up the Blue Ridge, almost 1700mi.
7/31/09- w/ all bikes done, I'm finally working on the El Camino, eventhough i don't want to. Bedliner and new stainless.
3/31/09- Good head! Thanks Zippers
3/29/09- I loathe spiral lock wrist pin clips
3/21/09- More fun
3/20/09- last parts from paint and powder arrive
3/19/09- i hate internal throttles
3/18/09-starting to look like a bike. And I got the power cross feed on my South Bend 9" A working.
3/15/09- I hate mounting tires, especially on freshly powdercoated wheels.
3/14/09- Fun with stainless
3/13/09- Picked up 90% of the powder coat, the ceramicoated exhaust, and 66% of the paint. The paint is what I expected but not what I'd hoped for from a guy from a local body shop painting on the side. I'm excited to see this thing done though. Oh well. Bearings in the wheels and spoked one wheel.
3/12/09- Bearings installed in the drums
3/10/09- '69 trans ready to go. Front brake drum sand blasted and painted.
3/6/09
Took the night off for

. But tomorrow's a new day w/ lots of plans.
3/5/09
Got the bottom end buttoned up finally. Everything cleaned up, new gaskets everywhere, inspections, reassembly. Cam chest and magneto timed. Rockers are done. So now I'm just waiting for Cylinders, Pistons and Heads back from the shop. Brakes purged and ready for DOT5. New left side handlebar cut.
