1975 FL SOLD New to me, but the cleanest old bike I've picked up lately (not saying its mint, just that I have a knack for picking up some ratty bikes). Matching numbers on frame and engine. I was told it was a 2 owner bike (before me). It wasn't running when I picked it up so I chipped away at some of the problems and also checked the usual suspects. Since then I've put on almost 300 miles, very trouble-free, very comfortable miles. I don't know if there's any motor work other than the cam, but it runs well and pulls hard. THE GOOD Stock cases and Frame, neither show any signs of any kind of damage or modification. Painted (gloss black)- kept inside and appears well cared for. Pingel petcock. Alot of chrome Inner and Outer Primaries, rockerboxes, cam cover, heat sheilds, rear caliper and bracket and anchor, mufflers, covered shocks, floorboards and brackets.......most of it in excellent shape
GMA A type front brake caliper, Chrome rear bannana caliper, crossdrilled rotors Dyna S dual fire ignition Horseshoe oil tank w/ FX battery Aftermarket rear fender: no hinge, w/ Tombstone taillight Electric and Kick start Front+ Rear crash bars S&S Super B, Andrews B grind cam, solid lifters Lights and speedo in working order Overall, a nice clean, old bike: doesn't really even leak much, or at least I can't identify any problem spots in particular.
THE BAD (not necessarily "bad", just stuff you should know) 1 chipped fin on front head (top fin in front of pushrod; visually, not very noticable at all) a few chips in the paint (couple on tanks and on fender under taillight, as though and emblem were glued to the fender once) chrome on the wheels isn't perfect (but it's not bad in my opinion though, a little steel wool pretty much took care of it) If you are looking for all original and OEM, this isn't it (Aftermarket stuff includes oil tank, rear fender, primaries, front brake, handlebars, speedo,etc....) Cam/pinion gear lash is a little tighter than I'd prefer (whines a little, but nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion) no light in speedometer
WORK DONE (since I've had it): new Yuasa battery some o-rings for the rocker arm plugs, and rubbers in the oil lines+tappet screen plug adjust timing shorten and adjust rear chain, purge and bleed rear brake (DOT 3) swapped cam cover and cam gear (w/ new undersized gear) replaced rear tire (new tube and slightly used Avon Venom) unstuck clutch plates repair muffler bracket Oil Change+filter installed Hi/Lo beam switch and replaced sealed beam New manifold seals, replaced carb (used S&S Super B)
